March 31, 2026: BCBS Update
We want to provide you with an important update regarding Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) coverage.
Although we are an independent private practice, our insurance contracts with BCBSTX are connected through our affiliation with Memorial Hermann Health System. At this time, Memorial Hermann and BCBSTX have not yet reached a new agreement, and the current contract is set to expire at midnight on March 31, 2026.
What this means for you:
If a new agreement is not finalized by April 1, our practice will be considered out-of-network with BCBSTX.
However, please know:
- We will continue to care for your family and you may still schedule appointments with us.
- We will file claims to BCBSTX on your behalf, as we always have.
- At this time, it is unclear whether BCBSTX will retroactively apply a new contract once an agreement is reached.
Important context:
Three years ago during contract negotiations with BCBS a similar situation occurred and an agreement was reached 10 days after the deadline, with coverage retroactively applied back to the contract end date. While we are hopeful this will happen again, it is not guaranteed.
What to expect if there is no agreement by April 1:
- Patients may be responsible for the cost.
- We will provide a good faith estimate for services (excluding vaccines).
- We will delay vaccines until a new agreement is in place, as these can be costly.
- We will send the claim as normal.
- To help reduce this burden in the event the claim is denied, our practice will offer a 50% discount on visit charges.
Additionally, at check in, we will ask you to complete a brief form requesting continued access to your providers. This helps advocate for your care and may assist with claims processing. BCBS Form

We remain hopeful that Memorial Hermann and BCBSTX will reach an agreement soon and avoid prolonged disruption. Our priority is to continue providing high-quality, uninterrupted care for your family while being transparent about any potential financial impact.

January 20, 2026: Dr. Gant Scholarship 2026
Attention High School Seniors: The Dr. Gant Scholarship is now open. To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must meet the following requirements:
- A current patient of Pearland Pediatrics & Sports Medicine & have been a patient at the practice for a minimum of 3 years (Current patient means the applicant has been seen in the office in the last 3 years).
- Up to date on his/her well visit (Up to date means the applicant has had a well visit within the last 365 days or has it scheduled.)
- Graduating high school the spring/summer semester at time of application and plan to enroll in college/trade school during the 2026-2027 academic year.

May 30, 205: Dr. Wagner Leaving Pearland Pediatrics
It is with both gratitude and sadness that Pearland Pediatrics and Dr. Carolyn Wagner announce her departure from our practice, effective July 25, 2025. After 10 wonderful years with us, Dr. Wagner has made the decision to work closer to home.
Dr. Wagner is deeply thankful for the opportunity to be part of your child’s healthcare journey and to serve the Pearland Pediatrics community. She cherishes the relationships she’s built with her patients and their families and is honored to have cared for so many over the years.
You are receiving this letter because your child has had a visit with Dr. Wagner in the past two years.
Please rest assured that Pearland Pediatrics remains fully committed to your child’s ongoing care. As a group practice with eight other board-certified physicians, we are happy to help you choose a new provider within our team who best fits your family's needs.
If you prefer to continue care with a provider outside our practice, we will support a smooth transition. A Medical Records Release Authorization Form is available on our website under Patient Forms. Once completed and returned, we will securely transfer your child’s medical records to your new provider.

February 17, 2025: After Hours Nurse Triage Service Fee
At Pearland Pediatrics, we remain committed to providing high-quality medical care, including access to nurse triage services for urgent medical concerns when our office is closed. To continue providing this important service amid rising costs, a $25 per-call fee for after-hours medical advice will take effect on March 1, 2025.
When our office is closed, you can still receive medical guidance by calling our main number at (281) 485-9990. You may leave a message that will be checked the following business day or choose to be directed to our after-hours nurse triage service for a fee of $25. Nurse triage can provide home care instructions, help determine when emergent care is needed, and, if necessary, connect with the Pearland Pediatrics’ on-call physician. This service is available to assist with urgent medical concerns that cannot wait until regular office hours. The $25 charge will be applied to your account for each after-hours triage call.
