Dr. Chan was born in Michigan and soon after moved to Singapore with her parents. After high school in Singapore, she studied at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After four Northeast winters, she decided Houston would be her new home and completed both medical school and pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Chan has a particular clinical interest in breastfeeding, which began with her own experience nursing her children. She became an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) in 2017 and is a member of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine. Her practice of breastfeeding medicine is centered around assisting mothers and infants with breastfeeding, as well as evaluating and treating breastfeeding-related medical issues. These include mastitis, chronic nipple or breast pain, oversupply and low supply in mothers, and tongue-tie, or ankyloglossia, in babies.
Dr. Chan, her husband, daughter and son live in Houston. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, baking, reading, Pilates, and dancing. In addition to English, she is conversant in Mandarin Chinese and basic Spanish.
