Expecting

Congratulations!
Welcoming a baby is one of the most exciting times in your life. Nothing is more rewarding than the privilege of caring for this new life and providing an environment in which both you and your child will thrive and develop. Choosing the pediatrician that can best care for your child is an important decision. At Pearland Pediatrics, we share your joy and enthusiasm and look forward to the opportunity in partnering with you on the exciting journey of raising a child.

Getting Acquainted
We understand you have many choices in pediatricians and choosing one for your new baby is a big decision. Please browse our website to get to know us a little better and feel free to call our office and ask any questions you may have. If you prefer, we also offer a complimentary prenatal “get acquainted” visit with a pediatrician. Please call our office and we will be happy to schedule you with a pediatrician of your choice.

Next Steps
Please call your insurance company to determine whether Pearland Pediatrics or any of our physicians are on your plan.

Upon Delivery
When your baby is born, simply tell your obstetrician and the hospital staff that you have chosen Pearland Pediatrics as your child's pediatrician. Your newborn care will be provided by a hospital pediatrician and care with us will begin with an office visit after discharge.

Upon Discharge
We usually see newborns in our office 2-4 days after discharge to evaluate feeding and address any concerns you may have. Please call our office as soon as your baby is born or upon discharge to schedule your baby’s first visit to our office. We highly recommend that you also schedule a lactation visit with our in house lactation specialists so that you not only see your pediatrician on your first visit but our lactation consult as well. Please visit our Locations & breastfeeding page to learn more!

Insurance Coverage
It is very important that you call your insurance company and add your newborn to the policy as soon as you get home from the hospital. Newborns are typically covered on mother’s insurance for 30 days after discharge. After 30 days, they no longer are covered unless you have called your insurance company to add your newborn to the policy. The insurance will not pay for any services if they are not added.

First Visit
Coming for your newborn’s first visit might be one of your first trips out of the house for you and your baby. We have made a checklist to help make sure you have everything you need for your first visit with us.

Again, we know the first visit can be a stressful one trying to get yourself and your baby to the doctor. We want to invite you to make yourself at home when you walk through our office doors. Once you check in with our receptionist, she will direct you to our newborn waiting area. We have a New Mom Lounge just for you stocked with snacks, water and coffee. Take a deep breath, you made it! Welcome to the Pearland Pediatrics Family! We look forward to many years of providing care and support to you and your new family.
